The compilation of Woodstock Revolutionary War Veterans biographies is thanks in part to efforts of members of the Historical Society of Woodstock. While exploring ways to commemorate Woodstock NY’s experience during the Revolutionary War era it was discovered that seven individuals who took part in the REV WAR were buried in the Woodstock Cemetery. An additional two individuals were discovered during the subsequent research. It seemed to make sense to honor these veterans during the 2026 HSW exhibit, Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Community. Many of the veterans were in fact, influential in forming the Woodstock community during the late 18th and mid-19th century. All but two have family members who continue to live in Woodstock in the 21st century. Both the cemetery committee efforts and the HSW project were sponsored in part by the Ulster County REV 250 fund.
