Resolution Establishing the Woodstock BearWise Committee

WHEREAS, the Town Board previously established the Woodstock Bear Task Force to address matters relating to human-bear interactions and bear management within the Town; and

WHEREAS, the Town Board has determined that the work of the Task Force should continue on an ongoing basis as a standing advisory committee;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodstock Bear Task Force is hereby redesignated as the Woodstock BearWise Committee; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Committee shall consist of up to five (5) members appointed by the Town Board; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that members shall serve one-year terms commencing on January 1 and ending on December 31 of each year, or until their successors are appointed; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Committee members may be reappointed to successive terms upon approval of the Town Board; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Committee shall continue to advise the Town Board on bear awareness, public education, conflict mitigation, and related matters as directed by the Town Board.
