The Housing Options Development Committee was established 3/1/2019 by Town Board resolution 68-2019. Minutes can be accessed from woodstockny.gov/index.php?cID=985. The resolution text is also available in the attached file.

Duties:
 
Mission

The Woodstock Housing Committee was formed in 2019 to support the 2018 Woodstock Comprehensive Plan's mission to balance inclusiveness, community values, and environmental preservation while promoting sustainable growth.

The Housing Committee, in response to demographic studies that identify severe long-term housing shortages, will identify and recommend sustainable and affordable housing options to the Town Board.

The Housing Committee meets the second Thursday of each month.

Addressing the Challenges Communities Face to Create Housing

On January 21, 2026, the Housing Committee hosted this webinar discussing creating housing that is affordable and that works with the character of rural communities, which can be a complicated puzzle. In this webinar, architects, community planners, lenders, and developers discuss how development can be planned to fit into towns like Woodstock. Topics include financial, sustainability, zoning, and design issues, as they envision housing that will fill the needs of individual communities.
